The Toga Party at Generator Hostel London was a great success! We partied until well into the morning, with so many drinks given away to everyone who came in theme dress! Backpackers Against Racism

I was in the Generator Berlin for a couple of days and had a chat with one of the staff members who is following his dream of creating a "Backpackers Against Racism" organization around the world.. Now months later all realized Generator Hostels is supporting this project for the full 100%

Guys I personally think it is a very good thing to support when you are a backpacker or have been backpacking in the past. Whenever you want to see the world you don't want to be treated different right? that's exactly what kind of message the B.A.R is trying to send out to everyone...

All the backpackers should stand together against racism and therefore invite more people to see the world without any racism... I believe we can all make that happen if we stand up for that. So start following everything that has to do with the Backpackers Against Racism!

Hi guys, A very happy new year to all from Generator Hostels!!

It was a very hectic period lately at the Generator therefore I did not have time to keep you guys up to date with everything going on here!

As most of you will know Christmas and New Year in London was a big success!! It involved parties, specials, discounts, free gifts and many more cool stuff the Generator gave away for free!

This month the Generator is rocking away with the new 2010 parties, specials and discounts on all sorts of different things. The first party coming up in 2010 is "Burns Night" on the 21st of January! This night we celebrate the birthday of the great Scottish poet Robert Burns! Obviously the combination of Scottish and party is one of the best you can imagine and make sure to be part of this first upcoming party of 2010!!!

Busy Times

So last week was very busy at the Gen Ldn... Christmas decorations had to be finished for there was a big client party in the bar Thursday the 10th of December. Christmas and New Years posters had to be made and spread out so everyone was working around the clock.

Christmas and New Year is the busiest period of the year and I must say the Gen Ldn looks amazing with its decorations, discounts and Christmas atmosphere around the place! If you still doubt just join the party now, because it’s worth it!

Pictures of the client party will be uploaded soon; I will let you know when they are online. Tonight there is pub quiz where you have to compete in teams against each other and the winner will get free drinks! So boys and girls join the party now and make sure you bring your party spirit!

At the Gen Ldn Bar we have lots of daily entertainment for you...! There are daily sports shown in the bar! So if you are a big sports fan of something you can ask the bar staff and they will check if they can put it on for you!

Pool table: there are several pool tables in and outside the bar. £1.00 per game
Fussball table: 50p per game... occasional fuss ball competitions.

Breakfast at the Generator is something which has a lot to do with the bar itself. From 7am - 11am you can get your breakfast at Generator London. We have a wide selection of serials everyday available for you and your friends.

If you don't like cereals there's toast with butter or/and jam for you. There's also coffee and tea available if you want to have a drink

Now sounds alright doesn’t it? Gets even better when you'll hear that the breakfast is FREE!! You can eat as much as you want everything is included in the price.. Maybe that’s why the Gen Ldn is officially the best budget accommodation in London

The Perfect Bar

I was just wondering what the perfect bar looks like and should have... knowing that the Generator Bar has its own unique style, there are always things that can be improved... some people like an old style bar layout some like modern style..

Picture here is from the valentines day 2009.

As you know the Generator Bar London has its benefits of being in the Hostel, cheap competitive rates and party where you live.. that combination has always worked fine I think. I am just wondering what people think of our bar and whether you think what can be improved.. Just let me know your ideas and they might the next changes to be made in the Generator Bar London!!

So guys, give me some ideas on how your perfect bar looks like.. let me know even if you never went to the Generator I am still interested in any feedback and ideas you guys have on creating the perfect bar!!

Green Party... with Midori!!

Friday the 13th of Nov, there's a Green party hosted by the Generator London in cooperation with Midori! (including the Midori girls..!!) As the Halloween party was a big success, next coming up is the cool Green party.. Easy! just show up in a green costume and you'll get free drinks!

The Midori promotion team will be present and together with the Gen Ldn entertainment there will be:

Games from 7pm and on
Green Harman (find out yourself what its about)
Free accomodation and lots of other prizes

Hi Guys, some good news listen up! Generator Hostel London won the Visit London award 2009!! you can be like so what or what is that?! Well if you are a regular traveler you will know about Visit London. Via visit London you can find accommodation which is rated and they can give you advice on which hotel/hostel gives you best value for your money. The Generator won the award of being the best budget accommodation in London! (Quite an achievement I must say)

Halloween 2009

As you all know the Halloween Party at the Generator London Bar last Saturday was a great success. A lot of people came to the party dressed up Halloween themed! Thanks to Noodles the welcome host the bar was decorated just AWESOME!! Well guys it's almost the 31st.. which means that the Gen Ldn is ready for one of the most exiting parties of the year... Halloween! Trust me this is going to be the most crazy and scary halloween party you've ever been to!!

This Saturday the Gen Ldn Bar will be transformed into a haunted mansion completed with costumes, games, decoration and around 20 pumpkins flying around!!

The Gen Ldn Bar is always in for your tips, stories and advice. This time I'd like to know from you what your favorite drink is… anything at all and let me know.

We already have a lot of different cocktail & shooter names for our drinks, however I want to know what kind of names you encountered in the bars and clubs you visited and compare it to the names you can find on the right side of the blog.

Well since I want this to be an interactive blog with everybody who follows it, I would like to know your travel stories, experiences, fun stuff, embarrassing things, best happy hours, best bar deals, bar keeper lines, think of some yourself! Just let us know what you’ve gone through and share it with the rest.

Hangovers...

In order to help you guys dealing with all the fun nights at the Generator Bar the next morning, Here are the do’s and donts when hangovered:

Do’s:

Water: Drink lots of water before going to bed

Breakfast: eggs & burned toast only

Pediasure: a kid’s nutrients bottle. apparently it also works with adults when hangover

Soup: Try to drink some soup always makes you feel a little bit better

Gatorade: Be prepared and buy this before the party, finish the bottle before going to bed and you will see it helps.

Vitamin C: Try to get some vitamins in before going to bed, drink with water.

Don’ts

Beer: In some countries people drink a glass of beer the next morning. When drunk you don’t feel the hangover after all. (not the best option)

Coffee: Please don't make the mistake of drinking coffee, it does not help!

Sausages and beans: try to avoid these in your breakfast. It will take it away for a while but will not give you the nutrients you need.

Workout: obviously don’t work out when hangover

Eat: don’t eat before going to bed. You need water no food.

Karaoke Nights...

Hi Guys.. Last night was a rocking Karaoke Night at the Generator Bar in London. once again a great night with the great Fiona Moon, our personal Karaoke Legend.

You like a good mix of music and have fun by listening to people singing or sing yourself you can easily join for this awesome night!! Seriously you have to be part of the Thursday night at the Generator at least once in you life..!

Fiona has been in the Karaoke business for over 20 years now.. Off course still rocking and singing she is currently working on her first CD!! Well Fiona good luck with that, let's just hope you will be with the Gen for years to come!!

Hereby the Generator bar invites you to a night at the Generator bar!! You will experience a tour of special drinks and parties, throughout the week.
